All you need to know…Back to School 2017-2018

The school year is quietly creeping up so I thought I’d make a list that would make it easy for our Richland parents to find everything they need to know in one spot. If there is something not covered here, you are always welcome to comment in the area below my post or visit our facebook page and comment there and I’ll get back to you on it.

Our school calendar has been updated on our PTO website and you can view it always at: http://www.richlandpto.org/calendars . You can also SUBSCRIBE to our calendar through Google to receive updates as they are posted!

Back to School Fair: Gear Up 4 School Day

Back to School Fair is Tuesday August 1st from 8-3pm/4-7pm.

Tues, August 1st  – Classroom Assignment will be posted on the Main Doors– You can find out your child’s teacher and the teacher will be available from 8:00 to 9:30 am or 5:00 to 6:30 pm.  You may introduce your child to his or her teacher in the teacher’s room.  You can take your supplies to the classroom (Do not write your student’s name on the supplies) and say a quick hello to the teacher.  However, this is not a Meet the Teacher meeting, so please be respectful of the teacher’s time. Please do not visit with previous teachers during this time.

You can use Computers to Complete Registration, Get Popcorn, Join the PTO, Support the Capital Campaign, Purchase a Yearbook, Sign up for after-school activities, Order school spirit wear, Uniform Swap, Pick up pre-ordered school supplies and more.

We will be having a pre-sale of the Best Book in Town Coupon book at the Back to School Fair . The book will only be $22 and while supplies last you will receive last year’s book (good until December 31) during the pre-sale times for free.

Information will be available about special programs and after-school programs, volunteer information, and other important information for the school year.




  • RICHLAND SPIRIT WEAR is uniformed approved and for sale in the cafeteria.
  • PTO MEMBERSHIP: Membership is $5. Get Richland updates weekly & the STUDENT DIRECTORY for homework calls, scheduling play-dates, planning birthday parties, etc..
  • YEARBOOKS: Buy the yearbook (They will be offered again in the Fall)
  • AFTERSCHOOL ACTIVITIES/CLASSES: The instructors are set up in the cafeteria with their own sign-ups times and fee schedule.
  • OASIS PARENTS: See Oasis Director, to get on the waiting list or pay fees.
  • RICHLAND WATCH D.O.G.S.: A dad (granddad, uncle and dad-figure) organization focusing on helping students and keeping Richland a safe environment.
  • PAY $4 ACTIVITY FEE PER CHILD (covers Computer Lab supplies)Our school doesn’t accept credit or debit cards at this time. Please make checks payable to the school, or pay with exact change. A receipt will be given.
  • $10 FIELD TRIP/FIELD DAY SHIRT PER CHILD. Make checks payable to McNeal Graphics or pay the exact amount in cash. No change can be given.

Richland Uniform Policies:

First Day and Meet-The-Teacher

Meet the Teacher: This is a time to meet the person who will be nurturing the minds of your little ones this year. :-)There will be important information in this session about procedures, classroom rules,  and other parent/teacher communication efforts.

*****Important note! NO CHILDREN are allowed at this event. We love ‘em, but we don’t have enough room. :-)

August 3 – KK Meet the Teacher 5:00-6:30pm PARENTS ONLY

August 7:    FIRST DAY of School for Grades 1-5 (Kindergarten Students have staggered enrollment Monday through Friday, this week only.)

August 14: Kindergarten Students Start Full Time 8:15-3:15

August 15 – Meet the Teacher (grades 1, 3, 4) 5:30-6:15 and 6:20-7:00pm PARENTS ONLY

August 17 – Meet the Teacher (grades 2, 5) 5:30-6:15 and 6:20-7:00 PARENTS ONLY
